groom's ice cream bar

ice portrait ice sculpture for an ice cream bar in New Orleans
Getting yourself engraved in ice is one way to make sure that you look really cool!

You'll see a groom's cake at a lot of wedding receptions. These cakes can be pretty interesting and usually reflect something personal about the groom: his school, his hobbies, military service, etc. They're often fun and sometimes tacky. Kind of like the eyesore La-Z-Boy that he won't let her throw out, the grooms cake is a token nod to him on a day that's mainly all about her.

At this reception at the Board of Trade in New Orleans, there was a new twist: ice cream instead of cake. And what better way to keep the ice cream cold but with sculpted ice? (In the picture above, the ice cream hadn’t made it out yet.) But this groom’s cake turned ice cream bar/ice sculpture was very personal: it was an ice portrait taken from a picture of him lying on the beach! The bride was totally in on the sculpture, so I’d bet that this was a fun reception indeed! They seem to have an excellent sense of humor and we were happy to be a part of their special day!
