| Ice sculptures can add that special touch to any event, whether it be a grand opening or an anniversary. Events that frequently have ice sculptures are wedding receptions, corporate functions, hotel and cruise buffets, and black-tie parties. However, those aren't the only events where an ice sculpture can work its magic. Ice Dragon has provided pieces for trade shows, rock concerts, and barbecues. And that's only a small sampling. At this point, almost all of Ice Dragon's sculptures are done by Dawson List. You might have seen Dawson featured on New Orleans station WWL's Naturally N'Awlins with Frank Davis a while back in July of 2003. Dawson's ice work has reached a world class level as he competes with and against the best ice sculptors in the world. In March of 2004, Dawson was invited to join the team of two-time Olympic champion Junichi Nakamura at the World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks, Alaska. They earned 2nd place with a twenty-four foot high Native American piece titled "Ancestral Spirit." He's been invited to participate in events in Europe five times since 2000 (Northern Ireland, Sweden, Belgium (twice) and Germany) and even travelled to an island in the Caribbean to carve sculptures for a golf event hosted by Donald Trump. Also, he and teammate Vernon Barker competed in February 2002 at the 2002 Olympic Arts Festival in Provo, Utah. Just prior to that, Ice Dragon provided numerous sculptures for events surrounding the 2002 NFL Super Bowl in New Orleans. Ice Dragon's clients included Nike, Coca-Cola and the Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. Later in 2002, Dawson scored an ACF Gold Medal in a Florida ice carving competition (he also won the event) Back in 2000, Dawson was awarded Fourth place at the 2000 NICA (National Ice Carving Association) National Championships in Munster, Indiana (outside of Chicago). In 1998, he and his Team USA partner Greg Butauski were named Grand Champions at the 1998 Ice Carving Classic. The Classic features teams from all over the world and takes place at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago. Dawson also took a NICA Gold Medal in Orlando and has earned several NICA Silver Medals since the beginning of 1998. In July of 1998, Dawson was also named a board member of NICA and was reelected twice. So you can see that Dawson has all the experience necessary to ensure that your ice sculpture will be the finest available to you.
