Attaching the Wings

One of the final steps is to attach the eagle's wings. The attachment surfaces are flattened with tools and then a warm aluminum plate is applied to both surfaces. This makes the surfaces virtually perfectly flat and enables a very strong bond when the pieces are frozen together. The bonds are so strong that the sculpture will be transported to the event in one piece instead of being assembled on site. Also, you may notice a line in the wing on the right. That wing was damaged during carving so a new part was added using this bonding process and the detail recarved.
